Beatrix Potter's house, and inspiration for many of her tales, Hill Top remains as she left it. Each room contains something that appeared in her books. Beatrix valued the house and its contents highly and when she died she left Hill Top to the National Trust, to open it to the public, on the condition that the house was kept with all her belongings in place. The house has been open to visitors for the last 60 years, so enthusiasts can learn more about the 'real' Miss Potter by visiting her beloved Hill Top. find out more...

Esthwaite Water is a varied fishery with deep basins and shallow bays. It is a glacial lake set in the Silurian hills of the Lake District. The lake is stocked weekly during the season; it is perfect for pike fishing, roach fishing, coarse fishing and trout fishing. Also here at the Esthwaite fishing lake we have our own fully stocked fishing tackle shop. It's the second year since the opening of the North Face Mountain Biking Trail, so if you haven't ridden on all of its 9 sections forming an amazing 10-mile circuit, there is another really good reason why you should come and visit us, spend a day riding in Grizedale Forest, enjoy summer with your family and chums. Although the trail has opened in March 2006, our Grizedale Mountain Bikes team promises that Grizedale forest will never cease to surprise and delight even the experienced riders.
